The Department of Veterans Affairs and the Association of VA Hematology/Oncology Meeting is partnering to provide an Oncology Symposium that will focus on the emerging therapeutics associated with the treatment of specific, high-frequency cancers found within patients of the Veterans Health Administration. The conference is scheduled for September 24 - 26, 2009 in Minneapolis, MN.

Dear Members,

As the president of the Association of VA Hematology/Oncology (AVAHO), it is my pleasure and honor to invite you to our 5th Annual VHA/AVAHO Joint Meeting being held in Minneapolis on September 24-26, 2009. We are working toward having a very exciting education and scientific meeting encompassing different aspects of our veteran’s health care. Many prominent VA and non-VA academicians will discuss topics on management approaches to hematologic and oncologic disease states. There are plans for concurrent breakout sessions for pharmacy, palliative care, psycho-social issues, nursing, tumor registry and VA research consortium. This program is sure to appeal to everyone.

It is the mission of AVAHO to achieve excellence in caring for our nation’s Veterans. Therefore, your participation is very important for us to achieve this goal. We encourage you to share this invitation with as many colleagues and co-workers as possible.
